Prime Rib Dinner from Five Crowns

I love nice juicy piece of prime rib once in a while and when I want some perfect prime rib, I always go to Five Crowns in Corona Del Mar. Five Crowns is one of the restaurants in Lawry’s Prime Rib restaurant group and whenever I don’t feel like making a drive toward Beverly Hills, my family and I go to Five Crowns.

Tableware

For this takeout dinner, I’m mixing traditional and modern tableware pieces. I like to mix and match simple designs like the Wedgewood serving platter, Apilco Limoge milk pot and condiment pots from Crate & Barrel with more traditional dinnerware like Johnson Brother’s Old Britain Castles and vintage silver flatware. Since this is a prime rib dinner, I can’t forget my set of Laguiole servingware and knives.

Dinner

Five Crowns (and Lawry’s) offer take out and my family ordered a family style prime rib that serves four people based on the description on their online menu . Even though this is the smallest serving size in the family style option, do not expect flimsy piece of meat from this establishment. You get an impressive, hunk of prime rib that will make you and your serving plate proud. Actually in my opinion, what we ordered serves more than 4 people!

With the prime rib comes their pride of the crown salad, all the famous sides; creamed spinach (my favorite), mashed potatoes, creamed corn, au jus and creamed horseradish. (I always ask for straight horseradish as well which they will gladly give you) You also get a Yorkshire pudding mixture you get to bake at home with step by step easy to follow instructions.

Step by step cooking instructions for your prime rib is also provided. Your meat is already seasoned so you just need to pop it in the oven and we followed the instructions and our prime rib came out so gorgeous!

I have to say that everything was perfect although I do miss eating inside their restaurant. They turned their lovely garden space into an expanded outdoor dining space for now. If you’re ever in southern California or you live in Southern California but never been to Lawry’s or Five Crowns restaurant, I urge you to give it a try.
